Stockton Forklift Masts - Stockton is a culturally and ethnically diverse community that continues to grow gradually. With a population of 280,000, Stockton is considered the 13th biggest city within the state of California. Sixty miles to the west is San Francisco Bay, and eighty three miles west is San Francisco itself. The city is in a fairly middle location, with Sacramento located just forty five miles to the south. The San Joaquin Delta waterway unites the San Joaquin and Sacramento Rivers to San Francisco Bay.
Recently, the city of Stockton has experienced a huge economic growth with a particular concentration on revitalizing the downtown area. There are some projects either currently planned or being built, like retail, apartments, housing, a hotel, a baseball stadium, and an indoor arena. The arena will host four major sports teams: California Cougars Soccer, Stockton Ports Minor Baseball, Stockton Lightning Area2 Football and the Stockton Thunder Hockey. At the gateways of the city, Stockton is building a variety of entertainment and retail centers. During 2003 the City Centre Cinemas, the 16 screen movie theatre, was developed.
The economy of Stockton was initially based practically exclusively on agriculture. Ever since that time, the city has really diversified, with manufacturing plants and telecommunications becoming more common. The strong ties with agriculture will progressively become increasingly more essential when the concentration on attempting to find a renewable energy increases.
The land is rather inexpensive and the proximity of the transportations routes have enabled the businesses of Golden State Lumber Company, Duraflame and Pac-West Telecommunications to build their regional operations within Stockton. The city is even perfect for those businesses based on renewable energy; among the largest receivers of wind turbines is the Port of Stockton. There is an extremely efficient and reliable rail system within the city, that helps to make the distribution of goods go easily. Even with the ethanol and bio-diesel plants constructed close to the Port, there is still more than 2000 acres of free space accessible
Stockton is currently working on developing green sustainable resources. Secondary educational institutions and high schools are working together with the local government in order to educate the population on the renewable energy industry with the hopes that a solution to the fast diminishing supply of oil could be found.
