Carriages and Carriage Parts

There are 4 sizings of hook type tine carriages rated by the fork carriage lifting capability. Hook type tine carriages have been standardized.

The carriage bar spacing used for Class 1 is something like thirteen inches and the Class 1 carriage is rated to carry cargo up to 2000lbs. The Class 2 carriage is rated to carry cargo as much as 5,500lbs with carriage bar spacing of 16 inches. Class III carriages are rated for loads as much as 10,000 lbs. The carriage bar spacing for this class is twenty inches. Class IV carriages are rated for cargo as much as 15,500 lbs. The carriage bar spacing used for this capacity is 25 inches.

The carriages for pin type tines could be different depending on the maker. Pin mounted tines can differ by the amount of offset between the fork eye and the fork. Carriage capacity will be determined by the carriage pin size and by the blade size.
